I?talked about how there are plenty of bars in Calgary that put the Leafs games on TV, which is good, but?none that I’ve been to actually put the sound on for the games. I said that I’d even been to a bar in Los Angeles where they had a room with the Leafs game and the sound on.
I also explained that the Leafs have been my team since birth,?BUT, that now that I live in Calgary my team is the Flames…unless they play the Leafs. That happens once every year or three. So basically I’m a new Flames fan. I’ve actually cheered on the Flmaes in the playoffs in the past few years before coming here. After this discussion, the following unsigned e-mail arrived in my inbox from a J369:
?SUBJECT: Wake up, this is not Toronto bud
I just got home, turned on the radio and some guy was going on and on and on and on, whining about the Leafs. And ended up telling the bars in town to turn on the Leafs games and turn on the sound. Wake up, this is Calgary, where you live, work, enjoy low taxes, good wages, job opportunities, and great standard of living. Support your home community and everything that goes with it, include the sports teams, or go back to the ex-centre of the universe. 92.9 is not on my radio any more, but CJAY stays - they support Calgary And I will actively encourage everybody I know to do the same.
I told him I don't want him listening to my show anymore.

C-jay supports Calgary? when was the last time C-jay had coverage of local bands???? and when did cheering for thier sports team mean “supporting the town”?

calgary needs more culture and open minds for it to really be worth living in,

How can you hear the radio with your head up your ass? Josh said he supports the Flames now and his new home! Move to the southern States were inbreeding is accepted and incouraged! C-Jay is the worst radio station EVER!!!!!
Theres only soo many time you can listen to ACDC and still enjoy it… This radio station (x92) is fresh and new.. including Josh…
Edmonton has at least 2 good radio stations i would listen too..and we finally get one.!

When I only listened to part of what my parents were saying, they called that “selective hearing” and sent me to my room. As juvenile as it sounds, this douche should go to his room and not come out until he realizes that if he’s only gonna listen to half of what some one’s saying he should keep his mouth shut.
Personally, I’ve been a flames fan since birth, but if you wanna cheer some one else on, go ahead. Just because its a city that has a hockey team, doesn’t mean that someone can’t cheer for another team. I don’t know if this douche noticed, but we kinda live in a rather diverse society. Which includes multiple hockey teams.

What can you say that hasn’t already been said about cjay 92 guy?
He sure seems mad, even though he enjoys low taxes and is apparently awake, moreso than Josh Holliday. Also, he spelt “any more” wrong.
I hope is isn’t gone for good though, I like reading his stuff. It’s enlightening, Calgary needs more people like him.

Glad to hear you cheer for the Flames but good on you for not giving up on your team. Now if you cheered for Edmonton that would be different, that would just be silly.

I agree with you dude. I’m a die-hard leafs fan but do support the Flames as well. I would LOVE to be able to hear the audio from a game while I watch and sip on suds. This meathead is the start of turning the city of Calgary into what Toronto is hated for. Ignorant DINKS! Smart’n up dingus!

This guys attitude is exactly what is wrong with Calgary. Since moving to Calgary a year ago, I’ve heard a lot of born and raised Calgarians bashing where other people come from (I’m originally from Saskatchewan)… This city has so many people from other parts of the country, they shouldn’t be expected to drop their sports team and cheer on only Calgary based teams, nor should they get bashed for where they’re from. Flames are my favourite team, and have been for quite some time, but geez if I was a Leafs fan, I wouldn’t just drop them to cheer on no one but the Flames. Good on you Josh for not abandoning your team… that’d be like a Sasky dropping the Riders to cheer on the Stamps… I’d rather die a horrible death.
Keep up the great work at X… you don’t need losers like him… his Gerry Forbes lovin ass can head back to crappy old CJAY.

Well, since I called in from the road on the way home I don’t really need to add anything here. Other than it’s been almost 6 years and I still get fed that constantly. Try walking into a bar with a Leafs jersey on! I guess it automatically [nullifies] the fact that I attend and own jerseys for, the Stamps, Roughnecks, Vipers and Hitmen (season ticket holder for four years). But NONE of it matters if you use the “L” word! Whatever. Go Leafs, Flames, Oilers, Coyotes, Panthers, Predators, whoever the F you want to cheer for.
Keep doing what you’re doing. We’re listening for the great music, and noone really cares what hockey team you like.

If you think about it you could be supporting the players on the team. Not everyone on the flames team is from Calgary. Theres calgary people on Ottawa. Heatley for instance. Former Calgarian. Does that mean that we shouldn’t cheer him on just cause he plays for a different team. This dude is probably just another band-wagon-er thinks he’s cherring the right way. You can tell the fans from the jumpers. Go to a game wearing a different teams jersey and the true fans will say yeah man, good game, too bad you lost. You’re brave for wearing that. The ones that jumped the wagon start telling you off and calling you a f***ing loser, etc. Or for example there was this girl cheering for the flames, grabs her buddies flames flag and says shes gonna wipe our @$$ with it. I had to laugh cause she totally thought that she had pulled one off.
But to the point. Not everyone is gonna cheer for the team where they live. People picked out their teams long ago. Deal with it!
